This picture was taken in the lounge while we were docked in Budapest. This group, which included us, had to arise around 4 AM to catch various planes at the Budapest airport for the trip home. Our journey took us through London where we met this nice older Hungarian woman en-route to a visit in the US.. I asked her about the various regimes that have ruled Hungary since 1940. She barely remembers the Nazi years with much horror and the Russian years with no money and tough times for her and her fellow Hungarians. Then, in reference to present times, she said many were starving for food and with high unemployment. She lives just south of Budapest 25-30 km.
